Ice Cream Sandwich Cake

A no-bake cake, which makes it structurally unlike everything around it. The layers are ice cream sandwiches, the filling is cream and sauce, and the whole thing is assembled cold and then frozen — so the risky stage is not the oven but the wait.

It opens with a shopping trip that has to be completed from a list, which functions as a short reading task before the kitchen work starts. Once home, assembly is quick and the game spends most of its time on the decorating.

The freezing step is where a careless build shows. Layers that were not pressed down properly separate when the cake is cut, and the game renders that cut rather than showing an idealised finished cake.

1. Buy the components from the shop list.
2. Layer the sandwiches with cream and sauce.
3. Press the stack down and freeze it.
4. Decorate, then cut and serve a slice.

Press each layer down before adding the next. The cut at the end shows every gap, and gaps cannot be filled once the cake has been frozen.
